Special Kids is a certified Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility (CORF) provider through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Being a CORF certifies that Special Kids is a medical facility that provides outpatient diagnostic, therapeutic, and restorative services at a single fixed location for the rehabilitation of injury, disability, or sickness. This care is commonly known as outpatient rehabilitation care. Referring physicians to Special Kids must draw up treatment plans and review them at least every 60 days.

From that first September morning in 1998 to this very day, Special Kids mission is to serve Jesus Christ by caring for His children with special healthcare needs. Carrie Goodwin, and her father, Dick Kleinau, founded Special Kids to help children with special needs get affordable healthcare and therapy. They envisioned a place where all children would be cared for regardless of ability to pay.

In Hamilton County, more than 17,000 children are expected to need special therapy and support. But many families must wait months—or even years—to get the help their child needs. Without therapy, kids can fall behind in learning to talk, move, take care of themselves, make friends, or do well in school. Sometimes, these delays can turn into lifelong challenges.
